Don’t stop moving!
A perpetual motion machine, as the name suggests, is a machine that can keep moving without ever stoping. In theory it creates its own energy. Sadly, according to the laws of physics (more specifically thermodynamics) this is impossible. However, it is a concept that has fascinated both scientists and musical composers throughout the centuries. Can you imagine the possibilities if someone created one of these machines? In music, there are whole works or movements of works titled Perpetuum Mobile which translates as perpetual motion. These works are always fast and repetitive. Often the piece can be repeated as many times as the performer wants as the repeats are not defined by the composer. So much like a perpetual motion machine, if the performer never ran out of energy he could keep playing for ever!
