DiscMuseum presents a new release from Nimbus records performed by the London Symphony Orchestra and conducted by Yondani Butt. A sought-after talent around the world, Yondani Butt’s repertoire included works by Elgar, Grieg, Kodály, Lalo, Liszt, Mahler, Saint-Saëns, Sibelius and Richard Strauss, among many others. After retiring from conducting due to a vocal injury, he returned to the stage with the London Symphony Orchestra in 2009, recording many works in the German and French repertoire. He passed away in 2014. This recording made in 2012 brings together all four symphonies as well as the Overture to Manfred, exploring the wild passions and tender melancholy of Robert Schumann.
